Mark has a strong commitment to helping others. He is a director of the Nassau County Legal Aid Society and serves on the Lawyer Assistance Committee (NYSBA LAC) of the New York State Bar Association. Mark is also the Co-Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association Lawyers Assistance Program (NCBA LAP), and will be assuming the responsibilities as the Chair of the Committee in June 2015.
The NYSBA LAC, in collaboration with the New York Bar Association’s Lawyer Assistance Program helps attorneys, judges and law students dealing with alcoholism or substance abuse and other addictive disorders. This Committee also assists those dealing with such issues as stress, depression, problem gambling, vicarious trauma, and other mental health issues. The NCBA LAP provides confidential assistance to Nassau County attorneys, judges and law school students who are struggling with alcohol, drug and/or mental health problems or are affected by the problem of substance abuse, stress, or depression. After several years of relying on volunteer contributions from the Bar, the NCBA LAP was recently awarded over $60,000 by the State of New York in recognition of the important work it does.

Mark is also the attorney-coach for the Seaford High School mock trial team, which competes in the state-wide mock trial competition of the New York State Bar Association. Trying cases against more experienced teams, Mark is proud that the Seaford squad advanced to the second round of 32 teams in the tough Nassau County field of 64 against stiff competition in their first year of competition. Mark will be coaching the team again in 2015.
